Holy Week at Incarnation

Palm Sunday, March 29

8:30 am Liturgy of the Palms and Holy Eucharist Rite I
10:00 am Liturgy of the Palms Procession
10:30am Holy Eucharist Rite II

This is the day we remember Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem on a donkey as the people praised him, waving palm branches and shouting, “Hosannah.” At 8:30 we’ll enact this liturgy at the rock in front of the church. At 10:00 (note the new time) we’ll re-enact this event in procession, traveling to a variety of points throughout our grounds.

Then we’ll move into the church as the mood shifts toward Holy Week. We’ll experience the entire Passion gospel and all the events of Jesus’ arrest, torture, and death. It’s a hard service, but a moving one that prepares us to welcome Easter. The 10:30 service will also be livestreamed on our Facebook page. Worship along with us using the following booklets:

Maundy Thursday, April 2

6:00 Agape Meal
6:30 Footwashing, Holy Eucharist, and Stripping of the Altar

We’ll start this evening with an Agape Meal in the narthex, setting the tone of Jesus’ Last Supper. Then we’ll move into the church to remember his washing of the disciples' feet and his command that we love and serve one another. Then we'll celebrate the Eucharist and receive the sacrament. The service ends with the Stripping of the Altar as we move into Jesus’ death and burial on Good Friday. Join us in person using the booklet here.

Good Friday, April 3

6:00 pm Stations of the Cross

This evening we'll walk the Stations of the Cross indoors, following Jesus' journey of suffering and death. At each station we'll hear scripture and a brief meditation as we consider artwork of the moment. Join us in person using the booklet here.

Easter Day!

10:00 Festive Choral Eucharist

Join us in person or online for a jubilant service in our sanctuary. We'll adorn the sanctuary with festive banners and ring bells each time we declare, "Alleluia!" After the dark days of Lent, Easter's celebration of resurrection joy will be wonderful.
