Deacon's Corner
At convention the Bishop continued a main theme of his, that we need to study and pray and talk with each other about what it means to be a Christian and how that should play out in our churches, in the diocese, and in the world. He even talked about evangelism.
Another Deacon who is a close friend asked me why should we tell others about the Episcopal Church. He loves to challenge me to stop and think. This is a topic I have spent a lot of time with over the last few years.
To me the beauty of being an Episcopalian is that we are encouraged to look at and deepen our personal relationship with God and Jesus, to ask questions and seek answers and to continually grow in our faith.
Jesus constantly asked questions that made those around Him look at who God was in their lives and who He was. Jesus understood that to sit back and not seek a deeper personal relationship with God leads to a life of fear and doubt. It leads to a life in which God's love and grace cannot fully be understood or lived into.
To be an Episcopalian means we are not to leave our brains at the door but to use them along with our hearts to seek God's will in our lives. We need to be fully engaged with our Father and His precious Son to live a life filled with love and grace and to have the ability to share that amazing grace with those around us.
